Why does algae grow in your pool?

The last thing pool owners or those who want to enjoy a swim want is to see a pool full of algae. Although there is usually no such problem in well-maintained pools, in some special cases, even in the best-maintained pools, the pool water can turn green. Here are a few of these special cases in our article:

Summer Rains

Pools that receive rainfall in summer are often characterized by nitrogen accumulation. When nitrogen mixes with pool water, it turns into nitrates and becomes a food source for algae. However, when nitrogen in the air combines with raindrops, it can turn into nitric acid and accelerate pool clouding. In some cases, the pool pump may stop during a power outage and water circulation may be interrupted. If this is not taken into consideration on hot summer days, the color of the water can show sudden changes.

Pool Parties

Summer vacations are unquestionably the time for backyard pool parties. But what most people don't realize is that the more people in the pool, the more chlorine needs to be mixed in (usually over long periods of time). In fact, on hot summer days, the chlorine used in the pool can be used up within hours. This can turn into a problem and more bacteria, dirt and sunscreen can get into the pool water. If the pool is not cleaned thoroughly after guests, algae can form in the water.

Filtration and Circulatory Deficiencies:

The fact that the water is in constant circulation is an important plus for your pool to be healthier. The possibility of algae formation in stagnant water is much higher than in a circulating pool. During the peak months of the pool season, filtration should be done regularly and the pool water should be changed well.

What to do to remove algae from the pool?

Chlorine is one of the most effective methods to remove algae in the pool. After shocking the pool water with chlorine, you can get rid of algae in the pool while stabilizing the water with the use of chlorine, which gradually decreases. With the use of Quardex brand chlorine, which we own, it is possible to get rid of all kinds of algae and pool water turning green. Afterwards, it is possible to get rid of your problem completely by using Quardex Algaecide.
