How to Successfully Open a Pool

Even though we have left a whole summer behind, we have listed the easiest methods for reopening the pool for you. Here is what you need to do to successfully open your pool;

Drain, Clean and Remove Pool Cover

If you want to successfully open your pool, the first thing you need to do is to properly remove your pool cover, if you have one. After successfully removing the pool covers, which are usually used to protect the pool during the winter months, all the water in the swimming pool must be drained.

Before removing the pool cover, cleaning the organic waste (leaves, algae, etc.) will increase the durability and life of the pool cover. In this way, you will prevent the pool from getting dirty while collecting the cover.

Get Your Pool Equipment Working Again

If you want to prepare your pool for winter, you must first close all your pool equipment for the winter. When opening the pool at the beginning of summer, you can make a good start by reopening all the equipment you have closed (filter, pump, heater and all other equipment you can think of). Of course, first make sure that the pool water is at the appropriate level.

Test Your Pool Chemicals

If you are sure that the pool water is at the appropriate level and your equipment has been running for several hours, you can start testing your pool chemicals.

Testing the pH, alkalinity and chlorine of the pool water is one of the important steps to be taken when opening your pool because ensuring the chemical balance while opening the pool will give you a great advantage.

Clean and Shock the Pool

After using your pool equipment for cleaning, there will probably be some dirt and natural residues left behind. For these, you can use a net to collect the debris that rises to the surface of the pool water.

After cleaning the surface of the pool, you can use a pool robot or vacuum for bottom cleaning.

After completing this process, you can shock the pool to make sure that the bacteria in the pool water are dead. Since a large amount of chlorine is released into the pool during shocking, it is good for your health to wait a few days before swimming.

After taking all these steps, you can open your pool in a clean and healthy way.
